More Chillin' at Vandy

Today when we arrived to visit Hunter he was in bed.
(We brought him some Camp Rock stickers and activity book.)

But that didn't last long.

He loves to watch people play the Wall-E video game. He'll just give advice from the sidelines.
Here they are with their only cousin, Kayla.
Ronin and I took a little walk around the hall.

A little later we all went down to the Family Quiet Room. Only with my crew, it ain't too quiet. Sorry about that!
Hunter took this picture. He told us to yell "cheese fart".

He's quite the trooper, isn't he?

As soon as we got home, we tried out Skype! I'd never really used it before tonight but I'm so thankful for it right now. Below you can see Hunter checking out his new Nintendo DS that a friend brought him while we were talking to him.

Say "See ya Later" Hunter!

If you have kids who would like to skype with Hunter, we'd love it! Our id is

Give him a call!

  1. I love seeing the photos!!

It's nice to see you guys looking happy, and having fun.

I'm sure thing are hard...but it's nice that you guys are finding stuff to smile about : )

  2. We don't have skype yet - it's on my to do list. I am thinking about all of you. I love all of your updates. Do you know how long Hunter has to be in the hospital? Is Ronin handling it okay? I know Collin and Reagan have trouble being apart for very long (they are 19 months apart in age). I am going to put together a little care package to send to you. I want to include something for each of your kids, and hopefully I will mail it next week. I know you are super busy right now so PLEASE don't feel obligated to respond to this comment; I just want you to know that you have been in my thoughts and prayers.

  3. Oh, Mandy, I only just now saw... I am praying for quick healing for your sweet little boy. I cannot imagine what you are going through, but I know the Lord is holding you tight and giving you strength you didn't know you had.

  4. That little Hunter amazes me! He is always smiling in the pictures and looks quite happy. What a special little boy you have Mandy. I really loved this post. I wish we had a skype!

  5. My boys and I have been praying for Hunter each night before we go to bed!!
He is amazing...I love the photo of him in the rocking chair.

  6. I'm so sorry to hear that your son has been diagnosed with leukemia. I know how shocking this can be and how it sorta pops out of nowhere.

My nephew was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was 12 months old. It was shocking and heartbreaking.

He and his family were thrown into a life of hospitals: spending three weeks a month in hospital then one week home. That went on for 3 months. I know that it may seem like you will never get through this but you will... and this too will become normal for you.. the hospital will become a part of life and will not be as much of a struggle as it is today.

My nephew was diagnosed with a very rare case of cancer called MML. In south africa there was only one other person who had this.. she was an adult and she did not make it. They gave my nephew a 20% chance of survival. By the blessings of god my nephew is thriving. He is almost done with his three year treatment(done in september) and he has surprised doctors. I think by the second month of chemotherapy the cancer cells were gone. I too have been amazed by the spirit of this child and just wanted to let you know that it does get easier and that children are more resilient then we think.

We will truly only know if all went well when his treatment is done and whether the cancer stays away but up until this point his doctors are very happy.

If you need anything, even to talk I am here here. I know some of the terms that most people think is a foreign language(lumbar puncture, biopsy, port, etc.).
Take care! And my prayers are with you and your little one.

  7. I'm praying for you sister and your sweet baby Hunter.
