Empowering women through an ancient art - Mekong Blue

Mekong Blue: The Gift of Empowering Women

During the holidays, two words always come to mind: giving and time. As women and mothers, we continually give to the ones we love. In turn, we are reminded of how fortunate we are, and are moved to give to those in need. In the busy holiday season, it can seem impossible to find time to do it all.

With Mekong Blue scarves, it is possible to accomplish it all. These gorgeous scarves are hand-woven of 100% silk by Cambodian women who are fighting poverty, illiteracy, and a vicious sex trade, and ultimately building better lives for themselves and their children. With the support of The Rev. Ann Walling, a Nashville grandmother and retired minister, and her family, Mekong Blue was successfully launched in the U.S. in October. The scarves are now available online at www.bluesilk.org , and 100% of the proceeds are sent back to support the weavers in Cambodia.

The scarves are absolutely stunning pieces of art, as well as fashionable winter accessories. In brights and basics, stripes and solids, they’re a can’t-miss gift for all the ladies on your list!
